Loud Zone
We've been very busy here at Family & Friends Railcard and have come up with a concept train carriage of the future where children are encouraged to have as much fun and make as much noise as they want.
The futuristic looking carriage designed in conjunction with child psychologist, Emma Kenny, takes into account a host of things that today’s family might need, to ensure that train journeys are an enjoyable part of the family day out.
Designed for ages 5-15, the Loud Zone would be split into three main areas - for kids, teens and parents and boasts creativity inspiring concepts such as chalk board walls which can be wiped clean and colourful lighting throughout the carriage.
The kids’ area of the Loud Zone is all about fun with dance mats, musical instruments and digital cameras. The music area would allow kids to sing and play electronic gadgets, and the digital cameras are perfect for children to experiment with, while capturing their journey. By being able to print off photos immediately, train journeys would become a time filled with fun-packed memories.
Teens, on the other hand, need to have space to themselves: iPod and mp3 docking stations would allow young people to plug in and play, and they can experience individual time and be able to ‘switch off’. With free internet and computer access they could surf the net and even knuckle down to do any homework they need to get on with. The introduction of fixed bean-bags would allow teens to sit back, relax, chat and socialise.
And not forgetting the parents, we'd have an area in the middle of the carriage with swivel chairs giving a 180 degree view of the space allowing them to keep an eye on their kids, whilst they relax and enjoy refreshments from the cafe.
We'd love to find out what you think the Loud Zone should look like so why not have a go at designing your own Loud Zone carriage and we'll display the best pictures in our Kids Zone gallery.
